    USB 3 ports inactive?

Gentlemen bare with me. Sometimes i think technology is leaving me behind. The wife's new 'generic' PC has a combo of USB ports. Some have a blue ring around them which a tech said designates USB 3. He's not around to ask the next obvious question. "how do i activate them?" This PC's Specs are now in my siggy.

Aalf you need to go to your motherboard website and download the driivers. Your specs only show Generic, use the system specs tool here

System Info - See Your System Specs

Fill them in and I can point you to the correct drivers.

Finally getting around to this annoyance. Plz check specs now.

    Gygabyte shows

    VIA USB 3.0 Driver
    Intel USB 3.0 Driver

    do i install both?

And just so you know, USB 3.0 requires USB 3.0 spec hardware or you don't see a difference, AT ALL.

It's of course fully backwards compatible, but the hubs and cables, at least here, are not still not very common in retail stores, maybe finally making some headway, long long overdue!
