That is correct. I suggest the OP read this tutorial before installing the SSD.
If you are doing a clean install of Win 7 on your SSD, you won't have to disable disk defrag. Windows will recognize it is an SSD and won't defrag it. There are some other settings you will probably want to change such as page file, system restore, hibernation(if you don't use this feature) and there are some aspects of Samsung Magician you need to look at, but all that can wait until you get the SSD.
There are other advantages to using an SSD over a mechanical spinner, especially in a laptop. SSD drives draw less power and generate less heat. Both of these are good things when running on battery and will extend the time you can run on battery quite a bit. Less heat is always a good thing in a laptop.
