Why use Wifi at home any more Devolo Mains LAN system

Got fast broadband and still using slow Wifi for computers / tablets.

I've just installed one of those Devolo Mains LAN devices -- works an absolute treat - I get almost FULL lan speed on computers situated a long way from the Router - the device I'm using has 3 LAN port outputs -- wish I'd bought one of those a long time ago instead of messing about with Wi-Fi extenders.
I'm using the 500Mb version.

Much better also than using a wifi USB adapter on desktop computer and saves running LAN around your home too.

Are there security options on those? I wouldn't get those if I lived anywhere other than a house with it's own fusebox. Even then I would be curious if it was bleeding out anywhere else. That's me though!

I'm not sure in apartment blocks - but I'd assume the power supply is separate to each dwelling. It's just like a WIRED LAN so protect your LAN just like you would any network --if you are really paranoid I suppose you could always use the MAC nr of the client computers NIC cards.

Your router will have all sorts of protection mechanisms if you want to use them to ensure only authorised computers get access to your LAN.

I haven't heard of unauthorised computers being able to logon to LAN's using this type of device - remember each property is INDIVIDUALLY connected to the mains -- and for houses the "shared environment" (e.g apartment blocks) doesn't apply.
