    HDD not recognized by Windows

Hi, I hope someone can help.

My previously working Seagate 3TB Backup HDD (This is not the primary boot drive) has suddenly stopped being recognized by Windows and does not show up in My Computer list of drives. I bought and installed this drive a month ago.

It also stops Windows starting, boot up stops at the Windows is loading logo screen. When the drive is disconnected, Windows starts as normal.

When I boot from the Windows installation CD with only this drive connected, it recognizes the drive is there and reports that it cannot install windows on it "windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style".

Any ideas on how to get Windows to recognize the drive in order to retrieve the data on it?

    Thanks in advance.

I should also add that I have swapped SATA and Power cables, but it makes no difference.

You can try this, If you have a External HD,
Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
