    latest firmware/driver updates for my Samsung 840 120GB SSD


    I've updated the bios on motherboards and dvd burners but, I'm not sure if I have the most up to date firmware/drivers and am not sure how to go about doing it on this ssd any help will be appreciated Thanks! :) SAMSUNG 840 Series MZ-7TD120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - Newegg.com

    How long ago did you buy this drive? I bought the exact same thing about three months ago and it has the most up-to-date firmware available.

    Samsung has a software called Magician Software that you can install and it has a way of checking for the latest firmware.

    I just received this one on Tuesday and have installed the magician program. :) My firmware version now is DXTO8BOQ

    I ran the program and it said this is the latest firmware so, I guess it's up to date. :)

    Flashing firmware just to have the lasted version can cause problems. Generally firmware upgrades are for specific problems and if you are not having that specific problem... If the upgrade is for general performance then by all means flash away.
