Bluetooth doesn't find devices

I joined the forum just to say thanks and to maybe help fellow Bluetooth victims find this solution, too:

This finally made Bluetooth discover devices again on my Lenovo X1 Carbon (3448-CTO) with Windows 7, 64-bit:

Go to START icon and type in services.msc and select services.

The dialog box that opens has a long list of stuff but look for BLUETOOTH SUPPORT SERVICE. Double click to open. Make sure it is AUTOMATIC. Go to the LOG tab. Choose THIS ACCOUNT and type in LOCAL SERVICE. A list of password (a 15-dot string) would appear. Delete all the password in the PASSWORD and under CONFIRM. Choose Okay.

It will ask you to restart the service. Once restarted, turn on your bluetooth adaptor again. Put your mouse in pairing mode and add the mouse.

Previously my notebook had stopped to discover any Bluetooth devices. There was no warning in device manager or anything. The drivers showed up normally, just no device was discovered. Driver updates did not help. Nothing worked except the quoted fix.

BTW: The passwords re-appeared in the dialog also for me, but the fix still worked.

This thread is and oldie but goody. Thank you, LAUBO, for finding and posting this. Just saved me hours of frustration and whatever strands of hair are left on me head.
