Marvel controller on Asus P8z68-v pro gen3 wont set 6gb/s

So I enabled this controller in the biosrecently , enabled the eprom. Have a 6gb cable attached and a ssd. Why does it set to 3gb/s? It says so during boot and I checked it in windows with crystal disk info. Windows 7 seems to detect it and I can read/write from it. I however suspect something with the bios since when the device is loaded pre-bios its already stating its @ 3Gb/s. At first I let windows load drivers from it from windows update, then I also tried installing the driver from asus website but that just seemed to decrase the performance even more, if Crystaldiskmark would be considered reliable which I consider it should.

What is the make and model number of the SSD ?

What colour SATA ports are you using? The Marvell ports are navy blue.

That would explain it. The data transfer over any interface is only going to be as fast as the slowest device connected to it (including the interface itself). So, if a 3GB/s device is connected to a 6GB/s interface, it will run at 3GB/s maximum. Likewise, if a 6GB/s device is connected to a 3GB/s interface, it too will only run at 3GB/s, as that is the slowest in the chain.
