I would stay away from OCZ, they don't have the best reputation.

Never heard of powercool, sounds like nasty budget stuff.

Be quiet and corsair both excellent brands but you are pushing it on the wattage. I would recommend at least 500 watt.

hi paulpicks21. thanks for the comments.

surprised about the OCZ comments. dropped the powercool after commenting as looked at the reviews and they were poor.

used the power supply calc and the input showed around 383watts so yes your probably right. 500watt plus needed should he decide to upgrade at a later date.

Nothing at all, which may be a bad thing.

What's the budget for the PSU? In your first post you showed an OCZ which was £53. If you can afford that then I would recommend something like this - be quiet! PURE POWER L8 600W | Ebuyer.com

Or this 500W Corsair Builder Series 500CX 80PLUS Bronze Power Supply - Aria Technology

Or this for much better future proofing and especially if he is going to overclock with his K series CPU -

And also as a general rule when building PC's with decent dedicated graphics cards it is advised to look up the manufacturers minimum system power requirements. In the case of the GTX 660 it is 450 Watts GeForce GTX 660 | Specifications | GeForce And I would always aim a bit higher than that and always get a quality branded PSU.

    cheers Paul,

to be honest.. we are talking £10-£15.

    i've ordered the

    corsair 600w builder series.

its just not worth the chance when you have a £200 processor involved.

    thanks for your comments
