Software to analyze hard disks for defects?

    Hi,

I suspect there might be something physically damage on one of my hard disks, but I am not sure.

Is there some software I can use that will analyze the hard disk and perhaps lock out those areas that might be affected?

Try SeaTools for Windows...it has a range of tests you can run

I can highly recommend Hard Dick Sentinel.

I have the a half dozen or more hhd health programs, HDS gives me more info, I feel it's more accurate and it's the only one that you can talk directly to the developer via his forum. I have eleven hdd's running at this time and HDS has been a big help in maintaining drive health. So much that I paid for the retail version and I'm as cheap as they come.

Thank you both. I tried both software suggested and they indeed found some errors in one of my hard disks.

You'd better get rid of that hard disk if it's shown up some errors. Hard drives often fail not so long after these symptoms arise.
