I need some help..
I have an old P4-ht System (hp compaq dc 7600)
The problem is when i boot my pc.. It suddenly hanged and lines came on my Lcd Monitor
It only works when i remove its Cmos battery and put it back.. it works fine but after day or two it again doing the same thing hanging and lines on my display..
SO I WANT TO KNOW WHAT CAUSING THIS ISSUE ?

From what you say it sounds like a hardware conflict on the BIOS level.
When you remove the 3v battery you reset the Real Time Clock, but you also reset the BIOS defaults. Since this corrects the problem temporarily then it bring up 2 possible causes:
- An old battery - not holding 3v. Replace it. It is a CR2032 and available almost anywhere.
- A bad Checksum. Try a Clear CMOS procedure (CLRTC), but only after testing or replacing the battery.
CLRTC Procedure
- Note all your current BIOS settings
- Shut down the computer > remove the power cord.
- Remove the 3v battery.
- Move the CLRTC jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3.
- Touch a metal part of the case and Press and Hold the reset button for approx. 30 seconds to discharge all power from the board.
- Put the CLRTC jumper back on pins 1-2.
- Replace the 3v battery > replace the power cord > boot.
- Immediately go back into BIOS and reset all your preferred settings. If the CLRTC worked you will need to reset the date and time.

I do 1 more thing with my pc and now its working fine from since 2 days..
when i bought this pc it has only 1 GB of Ram. I upgrade it's Ram 2 Gb and then problem start's for me..
So i removed 1 Gb and now its working fine..
It's means that problem never came from cmos battery..
May be that system can't handle more than 1 GB ram
