Hi all. The mouse is very hesitant 90% of time, hard to highlite stuff, not moving across screen obediently as it should etc. Something is wrong.
I have swapped the mouses from PC to PC. It's to do with WIN7 - not the mouse itself.
On the old XP I'd whip out a Reg. tool like PC Tune Up or JV16 but you guys have virtually banned them from WIN 7.
So where do I start?
According to your System Specs you are using a Logitech mouse. Go to Logitech on the web & see if there is an update for your mouse, also as you seem to be using Win 7 x64 be sure to get the 64 bit drivers for your mouse if they are available.

Previous or current program installs may somehow be interfering with your machine. This is often more true for AntiVirus softwares. Have you uninstalled past AVs, and what is your current one?
Was there a specific occurrence that began your problem?
Do you have all [important] windows updates installed?
oh-oh. Been experimenting with AVs this week................ Haven't started on that optimize list....looks painful (as AaLF glances over towards his trusty old XP MD, JV16 powertools.)
For sure its AV distorted. Is there a SHORTCUT TO A HEALTHY MOUSE?
I recommend not using optimizing installations for 7. XP needed it (was a very old OS). 7 usually encounters more problems when you do. All you need to do is treat it right. For every AV you installed, find a removal tool to make sure it is completely removed from your system. Most likely, it is nothing to do with your actual mouse, but some of the programs installed (past and present). If you like to optimize, that exhaustive list is the only one I'd use. Let me know if my suggestions help your computer run faster (mostly speaking about removing the AVS). Do always keep a single AV installed on your system to prevent malware. Cheers!
All is well. The AVs being installed & unistalled made it giddy. All is well now.
I'm back. Checked with my wife. The mouse is still a pain. I've swapped mouse. no difference. The annoyance is:
hard to highlight text for copy/pasting. The blue highlite bar wont behave. Can't seem to grasp all the text. And it keeps moving with dragging.
I tried it myself. how frustrating. Felt like throwing the mouse out the window. It's gotten so annoying there are calls for a re-format. And you know what that means - I'll have to do it.
Mate, it shouldn't be the mouse. Likely some software installed on the computer. Sometimes, mice come with drivers (on a CD). You can try installing that, or going online to the manufacturer's website for more up-to-date drivers for the mouse. I don't think this will solve the problem, as windows comes with built-in drivers for any general mouse that work just as well.
You've checked for any viruses, you uninstalled all previous AVs completely, and have only 1 currently running. You should try looking through some of the programs you have installed and report any ones that are suspicious. Toolbars, scanners, or programs that you didn't want or don't remember installing. Also programs that you don't use. Uninstall all these, but don't uninstall any updates or drivers that may be listed there. Have any questions, I'll help ya out.
Refine your problem: is your problem that the mouse gets jumpy, or that it deselects a part of text that you had already selected? be exact so that I can lead you true. Does this happen in a particular program, or is it happening on your internet browser as well?
I wouldn't reformat just yet, but up to you.
If the mice are laser mice, they should be fine. If they are Mechanical mice (with a ball), they may need to be cleaned. If the mouse is jumpy, the dpi setting may need to be changed. You can usually access this from the driver software installed via the CD or online at the manufacturer's website. If you need help locating it, let me know.
