    Can't install Canon iP6700D driver on Windows 7 x64

Hi, I'm having a problem with Canon iP6700D printer. When I plug in the printer, it searches Windows Update for the driver but it says that it can't find it.

So then I went to the Windows Compatibility Center (Windows 7 compatibility for Canon Pixma iP6700D Photo Inkjet Printer model 1441B002) to check if it was compatible. It says it is with a driver download from the Canon website, it provided a link to the iP6700D driver download page for Windows 7 (Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : PIXMA iP6700D). But there it says I have to get the driver from Windows Update, but as I stated before, Windows Update can't find it. Each side in pointing to one another for the driver, but no one seems to have it. I tried using the driver for Windows Vista x64 and Windows 8 x64 but it didn't work. This printer works fine with my Windows 8 laptop, but I can't for the life of me get it running on Windows 7.

This is how it shows up in devices and printers:

Does anyone know what the problem might be? Any information in much appreciated.

Thanks Maxie. I downloaded the driver from the link you posted, but it doesn't detect the printer.

It installs, but it doesn't detect that a printer is connected to the computer. Windows detects the printer, but it can't find a driver for it. I think the problem is that it's being detected, but not as a printer.

I would try Uninstalling it from Printers and Devices .. Reboot and when detects it point it to the Software .. If that does not work I will get back to you tomorrow mate .. As it is really late here ..
