Old machine, need advice

Any suggestions on what to do with an old donated Dell computer?
Dell 3000. The system has had the xp software wiped 7 times.
Was wondering if I could maybe buy Vista and get it going again and then donate it.

I have 4 Dell 3000 computers that were donated to me. They will run best with XP or XP-Prof. Vista would be memory & hardware needy!
