Screen goes blank

    My IT guy as not got back as yet There is one question I would like to put up here though, why does anyone think this issue start after 10 minutes use and then, after a reboot, everything flows along fine for the rest of the day? Surely, wouldn't this issue surface several times during the day if it were hardware related?

    I haven't updated this myself? Where do I find the latest BIOS update please? The MB is a Asus P6X58D-E?

    select the OS and look for BIOS and BIOS utility (latest BIOS is P6X58D-E BIOS 0803).

    WARNING: If you haven't flashed a BIOs before make sure you are confident with process as this can damage your motherboard if the action is not completed.

    Sorry to be a pain in the a** Andrew but the application to run the FlashROM says its not compatible with my version of Windows? I cannot find a x64 bit version though.

    Hi Graham,

    You mentioned fan noise in a previous post, so I have a theory about the 10 minute run time on a cold boot. Perhaps the GPU fan isn't getting up to speed so the GPU gradually heats up until it shuts down. When you reboot, the fan can now get to its proper run speed so you have no problems the rest of the day. I have a similar situation with a case fan, it wants to wobble and roar for a few minutes on a cold start, doesn't get up to speed. I assume that the lube warms up after running for a little while then the fan picks up speed and quiets down.

    I suggest you monitor your GPU temperature after a cold boot to see if it's steadily climbing. If it is, then it could be a problem with the GPU fan. If not, well, I don't have any other bright ideas at present.
