[Q] Shrinking larger C driver partition to clone to a smaller HDD

    Hello everyone!

Ive read and searched about cloning and what not and haven't gotten very far....

So i ask of seven forums. How do i shrink a larger C drive partition to then clone to a smaller 40GB harddrive and then removing the old windows once the cloning is successful.

The exsisting HDD is partitoned to smaller parts and has its own less then 40GB windows and relevant files in C.

Steps and readings would be very appreciated!

    Also:

    Both HDD are IDE/Molex

How big is the current "C:" partition? Asking because the safest way to do this is to enter "disk" in the start area and then select "Create and format partitions". This brings up the Disk Management tool -- and you use it to shrink the "C:" partition. But ... it will only let you shrink it a bit and will reboot during the process.

If that doesn't do what you want, and alternative is to download the Minitool Partition Wizard Boot CD, burn that to a CD, boot from that, and use it.

The c partition i want to copy is 160GB with total used at 32GB. The HDD i want to copy it too is 40GB large.

Will the Minitool work in my situation ?
