It seems like a lot now, but in 1999 laptop prices started at that & went up to $3k. I paid $2100 for a PentiumII-333. Still have it, hard to throw it away given the price paid. It can run Win2k but is too slow for WinXP even with 544MB RAM.

Hehehe. But we aren't on 1999.

Hahaha. It's hard to believe that you paid that much for one device that nowadays it's completely useless

That's what is great about technology. I paid $2500 for my first computer in 1984, the phone I carry in my pocket is far more powerful and capable with faster processor, better graphics/video, more RAM and more storage. Electronic devices seem to get smaller, faster and better every year while the price keeps falling.

I shudder to think of all the $$$$$s I spent on technology over the years (since the 70's) that is now completely obsolete.

A Desktop, you can`t tinker with a laptop to much.

Unless it`s memory as the prices keep going up, up, up and away.

Quite a few members have an Asus Sabertooth Z77 or Z87. And they like it.

I've decided going on the mobile spectrum. I need to recognize that I, unfortunately move a lot, and with lots of stuff to many places. I believe something slim ala G60, M1771-2, could do the job.

    What do you people think?

How often do you move? I have a very difficult time recommending a laptop for serious PC usage. Yes, there are some out there that will do it, but you will pay twice as much(or more) for a mobile product that has that kind of power than a desktop equivalent. Also, you can get pretty serious hardware in a pretty small package these days.
