Is it possible for you to purchase from the UK?

Unless... they have delivery to the US, or my country....

As long as it can get it to the US or my country and I have a very good price, then yes

    Edit:

Oops. Thought I forgot to post it

    Thanks guys :)

I'm more inclined on the mobile route. Even though I don't live in the US, I do all of my orders there, and then bring them via a courier. Unfortunately I get hit by a 20% tax if it's a computer over 200$ :s.

Anyways, I"m willing to pay that price, considering that I get to pay around 150% of the original price of any device I purchase in my country.

By the way, I know I'm picky, but since there's been some builds which are quite powerful and weight little, I'd prefer them over huge and ultra powerful bricks.
Is building a PC on your own from parts under 200 each a way around the tax? Only a very high end processor or extreme mobo could run over 200 and great choices at or under ! Just an idea......

Maybe upgrading your current laptop with an SSD would increase performance sufficiently. Also would keep you below the $200 taxed value. Samsung 840 Pro or 840 EVO.

Your Nvidia Geforce 8600m GT is not particularly fast. An upgrade will likely help.

Yeah. I had planned ordering them separately, except for the mobo, proc, and video card .

And yeah... that 8600m GT can't keep up with anything at all XD.

Most good video editing programs will make use of multiple processors (cores). So a CPU with more cores will make a big difference in encoding speed.

And lots of RAM. You will see a noticeable difference going from 8GB to 16GB of RAM.

If you can find a laptop that uses a 6 core processor and can fit 16GB RAM and has a 7200RPM hard drive then it will perform as well as a desktop with those specs. The heat can be controlled by using a laptop cooling pad, but that kind of defeats the whole mobility advantage, unless you don't mind carrying everything in a duffel bag.

If you get a sufficiently powered laptop and set it up at home with an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, using it will be almost indistinguishable from using a desktop. I work from home and my employer has provided me with a laptop and 2 docking stations. I have external monitor, keyboard and mouse at home and in my office. I can simply snap the laptop into the dock at home or the office and work just as if I had a desktop. At the same time, I can easily remove the laptop from the dock and use it on the go when needed. Best of both worlds.

Just realize you trade portability for being locked in to it's design and lack of adaptability. Other than ram and hard drive and any externals you really pigeon hole yourself. If you are looking for a video and audio editing, gaming machine then get your wallet out and get as much as you can afford or even more than you can afford.

Thanks for the option! Holy shit 2k ?!

I've learned that I rather get a ~1200$ pc for 2 years and then replace it. On its 2nd year I'll be playing most of games on Medium + Filters @ 1080p .It's cheaper and more efficient that way.. at least I believe.
