    How often do you move? I have a very difficult time recommending a laptop for serious PC usage. Yes, there are some out there that will do it, but you will pay twice as much(or more) for a mobile product that has that kind of power than a desktop equivalent. Also, you can get pretty serious hardware in a pretty small package these days.
    I move daily from my home . Except some days.

    On weekends and I'm usually off home.

    I thought you meant "move" as in relocate to a new living space. Do you need to a high performance PC everywhere you go?

    I would purchase the most laptop you can afford and then plan for a custom build desktop later.

    That's what is great about technology. I paid $2500 for my first computer in 1984, the phone I carry in my pocket is far more powerful and capable with faster processor, better graphics/video, more RAM and more storage. Electronic devices seem to get smaller, faster and better every year while the price keeps falling.

    I shudder to think of all the $$$$$s I spent on technology over the years (since the 70's) that is now completely obsolete.
    With the exception of Vintage Stereo. For new equipment, prices are about the same as they were but I doubt they will last 40 years.

    I would be shopping now so you'll know a deal when one comes along. Where are you located?

    Not in the US, so I'll be making Amazon, TigerDirect, NewEgg, and eBay my friends.

    @rvcjew:
    That's an amazing machine. I'm also considering grabbing it since it has 750 SLI which is more powerful than the 765 alone.

    Edit x2:
    rvcjew, does the Y510p support 5.1 or greater surround sound when connected to an external speaker?
