    WD My Book 2TB Gone


    Greetings to all,

    My WD external HDD crashed couple of days before. I can't access it and the worst is the I have in it all my important files. Family photos and videos, everything.

    First opened the box and connect it on the motherboard as internal and started CHKDSK, but it's stucked at some point, 98%, I waited for it more than 24h and it kept on at 98. So I hard restarted the PC and then the Windows won't boot up. It freezes at the Windows 7 logo before Welcome screen.

    When I disconected the HDD Windows started normally. Then I conected the HDD via USB cable but I got the error USB Not Recognized.

    Please HELP, all my digital life is in there.

    Have you tried going to Western Digital site and try a Firmware update they have a tool that might help you fix it

    this will find out the cause of the issue WD Support / Downloads / WD 2go + Other Products / Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows Diagnostics for the drive

    Yeah I just tried the WD Diagnostic tool and during WD detecting the software just goes invisible eventhough its still active in task mgr

wd book drive

Anyone got a WD book drive to work on 7? My flash drives pick up fine but my book drive isnt so lucky doesnt even come up in device manager.
