Boot selection failed because of inaccessible device

I bought a new laptop and in order to move my data to it, I took out the hard drive of my old laptop and hooked it up to a SATA device. After that, I put it back in the old laptop. When I turned it on, it would not boot because of the device (hard drive) being inaccessible with an error code 0xc000000e.

I do not have the Windows installation CD to run the repair, I ran a BIOS diagnostic and it found nothing, the boot order in BIOS is correct. Any further ideas?

What OS is on each machine?

If they're both Win7 64-bit then create a system repair disc on the working machine and boot the other using that disc and select repair from the menu.

If they're different, you could try downloading the ISO here. Be sure to select the correct bitwise ISO (32-bit or 64-bit) and then create a system repair boot disc.

Then follow this tutorial: Startup Repair
