it's codepage 949 isn't it? See this Windows Codepage 949
See character 005c in the table!
Searching in Unicode character names for 005C it should be the backslash.

The command prompt uses the font built in the codepage. We found it!!!

    Regedit, goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\CodePage
Post the pane on the right side. First scroll down so I can see ACP, OEMCP and OEMHAL

In registry goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Nls\CodePage and change OEMCP from 949 to 437

    Reboot machine, open command prompt.
    Code:
    chcp
codepage is indeed 437 now? \ displays fine?

It says this. Any guesses why?
EDIT: I changed users and the regedit changed fine, but it's still coming up as 949 on the command prompt.
