    Between the two, I would go with the Samsung 840 EVO 120GB. I still favor the Samsung 840 Pro series because it uses the proven MLC storage technology opposed to the EVO's TLC and theoretically should have a longer life. However, recent results from endurance tests have shown that, although the Pros will most likely outlast the EVOs, the EVOS will still most likely last longer than any machine it is put into and be superseded by newer technology before finally giving up the ghost. Also. SSDs tend to lose capacity gradually when reaching the end of their usable lifespan rather than just take a dump unexpectedly like HDDs will.

    I would buy whatever is cheapest. Too bad you are not in the US because there Newegg has frequent special SSD offerings. That's where I buy.

    And since you have only 3Gb ports, there is no need to go for 6Gb SSDs - although they will work.

    Most, if not all, 6Gbps SSDs will be faster than the older 3Gbps SSDs, even if used on a 3Gbps port.

    I wouldn't shop around for a SATA II SSD, because SATA III drives are a thousand times more common, and probably cheaper. Also, when you go to upgrade your PC, you have a nice SSD to carry over to it.

    As to your "tech" friends, ask them if they know exactly what is lost from a SATA III drive running on a SATA II port. Not anything important.........that's the answer. SSD's excel in Random Read/Write speeds at any queue depth from 1 and up, and in file access times which isn't affected by SATA II limitations. I have an Intel SATA II SSD and a Samsung SATA III SSD and the numbers that actually matter are damn near identical.

    I'd get the Samsung drive over the Kingston you are looking at because Samsung is the Gold Standard in the SSD market, mainly because they make and design EVERYTHING in their SSD's.
