    RAM upgrade

i have Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) 1600MHz Triple Channel i7 XMS Memory Kit CL7 1.65V, ive had this since Oct 09 and now thinking about upgrading

would buying another 6gb of the same be worth while or should i be lookijng at getting something newer?

    thanks

honestly 1600MHz is plenty. you wont really see much a performance increase going higher in speed. 8GB is the sweet spot.

There`s no real reason to go above 16 gigs, even 12 is plenty.

I would go with 3 more 2 GB 1600 MHz sticks with the same timings. :)

Try to get exactly the same as what you have now. It's best if all your RAM is the same to rule out timing problems. Something with the same specs will work in a pinch, but it's sort of a rule of thumb not to mix your RAM. Most manufacturers will recommend that all sticks be the same for best operation, and or overclocking (if you OC)
