Mobile broadband disabled by battery removal

Hello, I have HP Mini and I would like to know how to force mobile broadband device to operate without battery? Currently, if there is no battery in place, I receive an error through HP connection manager: "Disabled by battery removal". On the other hand, if it is impossible to start this device without battery, then it would be very nice if someone could explain why?

ok heres why, your mobile needs power to operate as a tether, or it needs the battery to complete a circut.
no battery , no power. no network connection.

In addition to Boohbah's reply, the battery supplies back up power for the memory that stores your user info, such as log on name, passwords & many other things such IP address, download & upload totals for a given period, time & date etc. etc..

When you disconnect the battery all this gets lost. If it is a USB tethered unit then if you shut down the computer & turn off the power, then it relies on the internal battery to maintain the memory.

So it is not possible to use the unit without the battery, Hopefully this helps you understand why the battery is necessary.
