WD External HD Passport Esssential not detected

I've come across all sort of solution regarding hard disk not being detected on My Computer. Most solutions would be for one that have blinking LED & vibrating which you can solve the problem by using Disk Managament etc. However my problem is the light is blinking but there is not vibration whatsoever and when i open the Disk Management, the white box of my external hard disk can only be refer as Disk 0 instead of Disk 1. It is not possible to right-click & change the drive letter because of it. If anyone could explain the problem & help me with solution, that will be great. I've got a lot of files stored in there & gonna be crazy if all of them cannot be recovered.

Not sure what your problem is but just in case you cannot resolve it, here is a way to recover your files. It is a Linux distro on a USB stick which most likely can read the disk. It is good to have this kit around anyhow.

Not sure whether hard disk is physically defect or internally.
i even tried data lifeguard diagnosis from WD. I could see two drives but only one pass test. The other cannot proceed as it says have too many bad sectors detected.
I searched many websites & couldn't find anything for my specific problem.
Thanks for the recovery software. I will definitely try it.

If the drive is physically dead, then no program will help. Let's hope that is not the case.
