Is this a virus or what?

Yesterday, I unexpectedly had a lot of problems with my PC. Here are the lists of problems:
    - Slow fading anymations
    - Mouse not functioning

Today, it's back to normal but the mouse is still not functioning. McAfee didn't detect anything. With the mouse connected, the error in the picture occurs. Please help.

Thats not a Windows message. Possibly its a 3rd party application......I don't think its malware.

What make and model of mouse is it? Check it startup to see if you can identify that software.....also try RIGHT clicking it to see if there is an 'About' option.

Flip your mouse over. The brand and model number should be on the bottom.

First test: see if you can use the mouse on another computer.
YES: the problem is in your system
NO: you need a new mouse.

Second: perform a System Restore to a date before the above mentioned event.

Sorry for all the posting. Its the wiring of the mouse really... When I tried using my PC with my moms mouse, it worked perfectly. So for now, whats been causing the slow animations?

We would need a better explanation of what you mean by slow fading animation. I assume you mean information bubbles.

When do they come up? What do they say? How long does it take them to fade away?

I cant explain much because this was the first time happened. It goes like this, when you minimize a window, it fades and goes down at the same time. In this case it, it did but 2 times slower. I didn't mess around with the files or anything. It just happened unexpectedly. But now its back to normal, but one problem; i need to buy a new mouse.

Interesting. Does it seem possible the mouse defect is associated with the lag?
