Storage Device Connected - constant pop up in taskbar notification

    Hello everyone.

I was starting up my PC today and it took an abnormal amount of time to boot, it was stuck on the windows logo for a long time, at 1st i thought it was stuck and did several reboots system restores, diagnoses etc no error was found, finally i just waited and it took a long time to get to the log in screen, in the mean time searching for solutions the most common suggestion was some sort of drive problem.

Has i finally managed to get windows running, i now have this constant pop up in the task bar saying "Storage Device Connected - A storage device was connected. If this device is a port multiplier, only port 0 of the port multiplier will be active."

When i click on the notification it opens the Intel(R) Matrix Storage Console and it keeps refreshing "view hard drive status".

Also in the >Computer> window i now have 4 devices with removable storage, with drives assigned F: G: H: I:

My computer has run without any problems for a long time, Malwarabytes, Spybot, CCcleaner and Avast don't detect any threats. The only thing i did yesterday was leave the computer on a "shutdown -t -s" command has i was downloading a game from Steam.

I have updates waiting to be installed has i reverted to a previous restore point, but i am afraid of being stuck on a reboot loop again if i turn the computer off.

Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Some information about the physical HD(s) in the machine would be helpful.
