Issue with HP Deskjet f2180 not printing

    Hi

I upgraded to Windows 7 build 7100 from Vista.

My F2180 printed fine at the time but after I installed HP drivers in compatability mode to get the use of the scanner I have had problems. Windows seems to think everything is working okay but when I try to print the job apears in the print queue for about 1 second then vanishes.

I have tried completely uninstalling the printer and then re-installing it without success. I woud have given up on it by now if it wasn't for the fact that it printed when I first did the upgrade.

Strangely enough I can use the scanner just fine!

I know the printer is okay as I can use it with my XP laptop.

    Anybody got any ideas?

    Cheers

    Welcome to windows 7 forum.
HP will be releasing support for Windows 7 operating system in November of this year. How ever there are several work arounds.

Good morning Theo, that may not be of use to them as that they have an incomplete installation and windows 7 will not recognise the printer.
All HP software must be removed from the system, the printer should be unplugged and the system rebooted before they can proceed again.
HP is not supporting Windows 7 until next month.

Mill, after deleting all HP software perform the following operation:
    1. Reboot your system.
    2. Insert the installation disk that came with your printer.
    3. Find the install.exe with your mouse.
    4. On install.exe right click your mouse and you will see a dropdown menu, about midway thru you will see "COMPATABILITY MODE" Click on that and you will see VISTA 64 or 32 bit click the one of them.
    5. Come up the dropdown menu and look for "RUN AS ADMIN" click that option and the installer will execute the installation.
    6. Follow the installer prompts, when it tells you to connect the printer to your system do so.
    7. Windows 7 now has compatable drivers that will work your printer.
    8. Go to device manager and review your hardware setting.
    Report back with the results.

    Regards,
    Adrian
