    printer problems

hi i am having trouble downloading the brother software into my win7 x 64bit laptop. the 2 printers i use are an HL-2140 laser printer and an MFC 425 CN multi function centre.
both of these 2 were working fine up until a couple of months ago , both disappeared, since then i have tried to re instal the software which i am sure i have successfully done but i cannot get either machine to print anything, i have the disc for the laser printer also.
i can print the test page from the laser printer and it does not show any problems.
while both are listed in my "all programs ", none are listed in device manager.
i run a paid for version of zone alarm and the free version of key scrambler, both of these have been disable for the downloads.
i believe there are several difference in the dowloads from brother than when i did previously successfully installed the software, firstly there is now a box to decompress the files and secondly when the instal is nearly completed i get a message "invalid argument ", i do not know what this last one means but i think it maybe the problem .i have tried different cables also.
in addition to the above i sometimes also use a toshiba satellite laptop with these 2 printers with exactly the same results, this laptop is XP home, a paid for version of zone alarm and the free version of key scrambler.
i have mozilla , google chrome and I/E8 browsers, same result, any suggestions would be appreciated , thanks palindon

Brother Solutions Center: MFC-425CN: Downloads: Australia (MFC)

hi thanks for the reply, yes i have definately got the downloads from , Brother International (Australia) or in the matter of the HL-2140 laser printer, i actually have 2 of these printers so i have 2 discs, i have of course tried the download with both discs.
i can tell you that nothing for either printer appears in device manager.
and i will have to check this to-morrow but i think that when i put in either of the HL-2140 discs nothing happens at all, note this is in both the XPlaptop AND the win7 laptop, i will confirm this to-morrow morning, thank palindon

    Hello!

Maybe there are some errors in Registry preventing tha print queue working properly. A good tool to check and repair the Registry is RegCure Pro. I also had seen in HP printers that while the drivers installs correctly, when you print the document just dissapears from the queue before reaching the printer. I solved it by leaving the printer installed and attempt to reinstall it using a different version of the Software. During the second installation the program realises there is something wrong with the print queue and offers to fix it. Of course you reply YES and that's it!
