External drive erroneously seen as an SSD
I have an external drive in a USB enclosure.
When I use WinContig to defrag files on that drive it gives me this message:SSD DetectedI ignore that and I click OK> The defrag takes place without problems.
Solid State Device see no performance benefit from traditional HDD defragmentation. File defragmentation causes lots of write processes and can put undue wear on specific areas of the drives. It is recommended that you do not defragment files on Solid State Device.
But why would WinContig see this as an SSD? It's not an SSD.
