I bought the computer with windows 7 installed on the SSD, it looks like they fitted the storage drive before windows 7 installation and the mbr was put on the storage drive.

Well you would need a Windows 7 install dvd or you need to create a startup repair disc/cd

Mark the ssd active, then unplug the 2 hard drives and then run startup repair, up to 3 times.

    Partition - Mark as Active

    System Repair Disc - Create

    Startup Repair

Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

What would happen if I made a image with Acronis of the c drive / 100mb system reserve. unplugged all except the SSD drive and used the image file to restore?

I don`t think you can make an image of 2 things on separate drives.

But it still wouldn`t be right.

I would just unplug everything but the ssd and try to get it booting on it`s own.

    All the links are above.

And where are you gonna store the image ?

I believe what you stated above about the ssd should work; unless there is something preventing windows being installed on the ssd.
