Hard Drive Bay Advice - 2TB Mirroring Drive

    Hey guys,

First post here on the Win7 Forums. I've been lurking around for quite some time, got a little help with quite a bit of issues, but here's a first for me that I don't quite know how to describe.

    So a bit of background:
I work for a church. Our video producer has a Mac Pro. He connects a 4TB drive by Firewire 800. I have a windows 7 Laptop with a Sata drive Docking Bay. Currently, to share his files, I grab the 4TB drive from his desk, and plug it into my computer.

    Now for the problem:
As far as reading files on the drive, that's not a problem. I'm able to view the files in the drive without an issue. What I need to know is, Is there a way that, instead of having to physically unplug his 4tb external drive, Can I get any sort of device, desktop storage bay, etc, that I can pop in Two 2tb drives, and and he stores the files on that, and I can just grab one of the hard drives out of that device and read it when I need to?

    Problems:
I don't want a NAS per se... I still want to physically walk over and grab the drive. Relying on pulling videos over network is a pain.

I don't want RAID, I want it to simply make two copies of the files, and I can grab one hard drive and read it from that one drive without a RAID setup.

If I'm not making any sense, please let me know. I'll try and make it a bit easier to understand.

Have you looked at USB 3.0 docking devises? If your lap top has a good usb 3 chip you can get very fast transfer speeds. A eSATA dock if you have a eSATA port.

Not quite what I'm trying to ask. I appreciate the help though.

What I'm trying to do, is I want something that, on the computer, looks like a single external hard drive. The size of that drive is: 2TB.

However, the device itself actually has TWO 2TB drives. It makes two exact copies of the file, and places it on both drives. However, I don't want to be limited to reading that hard drive on that docking station only, I want to be able to simply pull one of the drives out of the bay, plug it into the dock on my desk at home, and read it from there, not requiring both drives to read it. I assume that's the issue with RAID configurations is you need two drives to read it.
