is it working nw ure hdd?

t re qestion yu just posted, you should have a folder called "windows old" when you click on your hdd in my computer ,and its safe to delete that folder
sometimes it wont let you delete the folder if this happens download this Take Ownership Shortcut
follow the intructions on that page

hey guys. i just got the new HD and it is showing up! now only problem is that its now showing up under HD's in my computer. it shows up in disk managment so how do i get it going? here is a SS of what i see when i right click on it.

Can you do it with the snipping tool & attach with the paper clip icon next to the smiley icon when you post.

Does it show an assinged drive letter ? I can't tell from this pic ?

Moknathal, seems like you have the HDD attached to a raid controller. In your current configuration, it will only let you run the drive as a raid drive. Your motherboard bios, if attached to that, is probably specifying Raid mode as opposed to IDE mode.

You can run it solo under raid. Choose new striped volume. Format it to NTFS.

I agree that's why it is showing as a black line for th HD & it needs to be formatted

Alright. Your raid controller might not want to run that as a single volume in Raid.

I will not continue with advice. Not out of disrespect or anything like that at all. It's just that it can get tricky and I don't want to be responsible for guiding you on equipment I do not own or use.

That being said, you probably are going to have to change your bios to IDE mode. But when you do that, it is going to mess up your Windows. I'm not going there with this.

Good luck and don't say I didn't warn you.

Safe advice I can give, but don't know if it will help at all. Try running Acronis Disk Director Suite under your current configuration to attempt to format the new drive, in manual mode.
