i had the same problem as you when i recently purchased a new 1tb hardrive
not being recognized when my main os was on another hdd ,but i
was getting rid of my other hdd so after removing my old hdd and booted just with the new one on its own recognized it s ,so i installed the os then added my old one just to see if it was incompatible or something it recognized both,
so im not sure if this helps seen as im sure you just want to keep the new hdd as storage and old hdd as main hdd ,but give it a go just booting into the new hdd on its own removing the older one then
with a windows installation cd and see if it recognizes it, just to make sure its not a doa hdd

    certainly sound that way,
just to be sure have you tried different sata connecters from power supply and different connecters to motherboard .also is the disk actually spinning up when connected up

if still not working id get it replaced fo' sure

thx for all the replys i also posted this question somewhere else but no one is answering. maybe yall can help me out?

i upgraded from windows XP 32bit to Windows 7 ultamat 32bit. my raptor HD is still almost full. is it because there is still the XP partition? if so is it ok to delete teh XP partition and windows 7 will run fine and be like a fresh install?
