    Negative Scanner Not Working

I have a scanner for scanning film negatives which worked really well with Vista 32 bit but I have been unable to get it working with Windows 7 64 bit.

It is made by a company called Fujitac (who don't seem to have a website anymore) but it uses OVT Scanner drivers. Initially Win 7 didn't recognise it but after loading the drivers from the original CD it seems to be recogised. The driver version is Omnivision 5.2.5500.35 from 29 Jul 07 and I have no idea where to get a later version.

The scanner came with Photo Impression 6 software. When I go "Acquire from Scanner" it brings up the capture window but it remains blank and never shows an image of the negative that I wish to scan.

Any ideas would be gratefully received - I've wasted too much time on this already

    Hello paust,

    Welcome to 7 Forums.

Have you tried installing/running in Compatibility Mode.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Gary

I have tried running the software in compatibility mode but it didn't work. I think the driver is the problem but I am not sure where to get a more recent driver.

    Solved it. --Maybe thread stale???

    Gary

This thread may be a little stale but I had the same problem with the same fujitac scanner when I moved to Windows 7. Today I got it working after giving up a couple of years back.

install this driver- photo2filedriver on the Spectare product page
    Welcome to Spectare Products

My Arcsoft install disk was long lost so I tried to import into Photoshop without luck. As a last resort I downloaded GIMP GIMP - Downloads image manipulation software and bingo, all worked fine.

This page will show you how to use GIMP to import from the scanner.

Good luck. I hope that you have not trashed the fujitac in frustration
