    PS3 external harddrive problem

I just purchased a PS3 and am having a hard time with the external hdd. (640gb if important)

At first, it would not even recognize the drive, even though I formatted it Fat32.

After Googling suggestions, it said to format the first partition to Fat32, which I did and it now recognizes the drive.

The problem is, it says there is nothing on the drive, even though there is a movie and a music album.

I created 2 folders - video and music and the video i formatted AVI- also tried mp4.

I thought the problem might be the first unallocated partition, but I can't seem to wipe that partition -I used Minitool Partition Wizard.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Thanks for reply,

I have followed all instructions, including the exact renaming of folders, but when I click on the external hdd, it still says - no titles.

This is even if I click Display.

I made sure to keep the folders under the 3.95gb max.

Don't know what else to do.

I think the best way to get around this is to include the videos in Windows Media Player and access them from ther

Well, I was one day from returning this unit - found the answer today.

The folder in the external hdd isn't to be named Music or Video - must be PS3.

When clicking on PS3, it opens, but shows no titles until Display All is selected, then everything opens and plays!

    Couldn't believe it!!
