    I just looked at the motherboard for the XPS 8700 and it kind of scares me... it is not organized like a normal one.

    Since you don't want to mess with hardware or learn how to, why would a motherboard scare you? Surely you'll never see it.

    Do you really need MS Office.?

    Well if i go with a custom pc, i would not have any support other than SF. I have noticed too that they use budget components. The Nvidia GeForce 645 is supposed to have 3D Vision but on the dell website, it says it doesn't.
    A response for the record.
    This could be nonsense depending on who does the build. My own build (see specs) could have been built by a reputable shop and all quality components.
