That is a good idea because during that time the SSD is powered on but the OS does not write the usual statistical files to it. During that time the SSD controller can do the garbage collection.
You do, however, want to remove all the temporary files from time to time. For that I use the CCleaner.
Btw: SSDs are not as touchy as some people claim. My OCZ and my Intel from 2007 are still going strong. And both got heavy usage.
