That is one of the main reasons I like my Intel unit......no software.
Gary, if you called Corsair and emailed them the pics you have I bet they would try to make it right.

Jack I think a washer with a big enough hole to fit over the backplate nuts would be too big on the OD and short something out.
Kelly I just emailed them a picture and explanation of the whole mess. I plan to follow up with a call Tuesday, closed Mon for prez day, a holiday created to give gov't workers a day off for no reason.
I think I found some good solutions.
1. Forget the Link software.
2. Don't connect the fans to the pump.
3. Connect the fan with a Y-connector to CPU_Fan
4. Connect the pump to CPU_OPT
5. Throw away the USB dongle cable.
IT works well this was and the fans and pump both change speed based on CPU temps.
No I have one setting for both CPU fan headers but HWinfo reports fans at 1176 and CPU_OPT at 2177. They do idle down to 40% of full speed, that's what I set them for in BIOS. Then they speed up to the 92% of full speed at a CPU temp of 62C.
Good news is I also filed down the mounting hole things and temps now are 20C lower running IBT Standard with same settings. I hit 93C before, not only 73C @ 4200.
Great job Gary.
I like you got rid of the Corsair Link and it's program. Nothing but a ball of shot.
I went to the Corsair Forum and did all the updates and tricks and it was still a bag of worms.
You might want to check for the Corsair Link program again. It leaves little pieces all over the system.
What fans are you using with the cooler?
