HP Pavilion Dv6 trackpad stops working, not in device manager
"HP Pavilion dv6-2157wm Entertainment Notebook PC"
Here's the list of things I've tried and I'm not sure what else to do:
- sfc /scannow
- chkdsk C: /f
- Updated the BIOS
- Uninstalled Synaptics driver, re-installed newest version
- Uninstalled Synaptics driver, tried letting Windows Update install driver
- Generic USB drivers are not allowed to be turned off to save power
- "Hard Reset," unplugging A/C and battery and holding power button for 30 seconds
- Tried safe mode; no avail
- Looked for FN keys to turn it on/off, there are none
- Tried pressing the button above the trackpad to turn it on/off; light just stays white
- Here's a picture of the light:
I don't know what else to do. I've been told to try to take the hard drive out and look under it, there could be a loose wire that attaches to the back of the trackpad. But before I dive into taking the computer apart, I just wanted to eliminate all of my options. Maybe there's something I'm missing that someone else will be able to point out with no issue.
Here's a picture of the Mouse > Synaptics tab:
...actually as I'm typing this, for the first time, I received an error saying, "Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver, Do you want to uninstall the driver now?" (That's the first time this has happened.)
Here's a picture of device manager:
There are no errors/exclamation points.
