HP Pavilion Dv6 trackpad stops working, not in device manager

"HP Pavilion dv6-2157wm Entertainment Notebook PC"

Here's the list of things I've tried and I'm not sure what else to do:

    • sfc /scannow
    • chkdsk C: /f
    • Updated the BIOS
    • Uninstalled Synaptics driver, re-installed newest version
    • Uninstalled Synaptics driver, tried letting Windows Update install driver
    • Generic USB drivers are not allowed to be turned off to save power
    • "Hard Reset," unplugging A/C and battery and holding power button for 30 seconds
    • Tried safe mode; no avail
    • Looked for FN keys to turn it on/off, there are none
    • Tried pressing the button above the trackpad to turn it on/off; light just stays white
    • Here's a picture of the light:

I don't know what else to do. I've been told to try to take the hard drive out and look under it, there could be a loose wire that attaches to the back of the trackpad. But before I dive into taking the computer apart, I just wanted to eliminate all of my options. Maybe there's something I'm missing that someone else will be able to point out with no issue.

Here's a picture of the Mouse > Synaptics tab:
...actually as I'm typing this, for the first time, I received an error saying, "Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver, Do you want to uninstall the driver now?" (That's the first time this has happened.)

Here's a picture of device manager:

    There are no errors/exclamation points.

Hi there ... Welcome to Seven Forums .. I am sure you have come to the conclusion this is a Hardware fault .. The light above the trackpad .. Is the clue you should be able to switch it on and off .. You should be able to find Instruction online to help you Install a new one ..Or maybe as you state could just be a loose wire ..
