    Hard Drive Space

    Hi,

I have a WD 500GB black hard drive. I only have windows 7 installed, 2 games, Battelfield 4 and Assassins Creed 4. I also transferred maybe 10 GB from my old computer. It shows 77% full and 107GB left. This makes no sense to me. Is it possible it is showing backwards?

depending on the size of the 2 games you installed; yes it is quite possible for there to be that much used. . I highly doubt it is a issue with windows reporting it incorrectly.

You must have a lot of restore points. Run this command in an elevated Command Prompt (run as admin):

    vssadmin list shadowstorage

Opinions differ. It's a matter of personal preference.

My system is set to allow about 8 GB worth of restore points. Right now, I'm using 7.6 GB of that for 9 restore points dating back a month.

If you think you might some day have to restore to March of 2013 or March of 2012, then you'd need to devote more space. Personally, I've never had any need to restore farther back than a few days.

Generally, I think you can get more than 1 restore point per GB devoted to System Restore. I'm getting 9 restore points on less than 8 GB.

It depends how many restore points you want to keep. Figure between 500MB to 1GB per restore point. So if you have 10GBs, that should be good for appr. 12 to 15 restore points which I think is adequate. The command to set is to this amount is:

    vssadmin resize shadowstorage /For=C: /On=C: /MaxSize=10GB
