Canon iP4300 prints OK, but queue won't clear
My Win 7 computer is new, but my Canon iP4300 is several years old. Connection is via USB .
When I print, either on my new computer or on my wife's older laptop, the printer prints just fine. It will do multiple pages, back-to-back, photos, etc., but the queue will not clear. In order to print a second item I first have to go in and manually click "cancel printing". Then the second item will print. This has not been a problem previously. I don't know if the problem is related to Win7, or if the iP4300 just 'went bad'. I have installed the latest 64 bit driver from Canon. The printer is wired to my computer; access from my wife's laptop is via a wireless network.
Any suggestions or ideas anyone can offer would be appreciated.
TO CLARIFY: Most of the other threads involve a system that got hung up once, or one that wouldn't clear the queue even if 'cancel' was clicked. . I CAN clear the queue, but I have to do it by clicking on "cancel printing" after the page prints. This works every time, but it's annoying to have to do.
Here's my latest attempted 'solution': I went into printer properties and unchecked the "Enable bidirectional support". The result: When I now try to print, I get the error warning to 'Enable bidirectional support', but the printing works just fine. The printer sounds just like it did before -- I expected it to print more slowly, but there doesn't seem to be any difference in speed. And, lo and behold, the queue clears just perfectly. Today I even printed (2) 4-page documents two-sided with the second document loaded when the first one was still printing. Both printed as they were supposed to, and the queue cleared just fine.
This makes no sense. Can anyone shed any light on this? I'll leave this open for a couple of weeks to see if I get any comments, but then I'm going to close it, as it appears my printer works just fine now!!!
