    COM & LPT ports.

Ok I'm not a tech guy but I am trying to get these ports up and running for a car diagnostics obd2 cable,

So after plenty of searching I found the COM & LPT ports in devices section,

I had to install the ports as they where not listed in the devices section,

It doesn't matter which com port I decide on, although I'm using com port one. I get the code 34, so I've tried to configure the settings IRQ and I/O range, but no matter what I choose it conflicts or is not valid,

So I selected a conflicting setting and restarted the computer, and when I got back in I get a code 10 instead, and no conflicts? Weird?

I have a constant yellow warning over the COM & LPT settings.

Any help would be great as I'm 3 days into this.

    Thanks.

Hello and welcome Davey mate some system specs please System Info - See Your System Specs

See these anyway Configuring the LPT port

Change Settings for a COM or LPT Port

Personally I would have thought such a device could be hooked up via USB??

Hiya, apparently this is the issue

How To: Getting that eBay cable to work! - Page 3 - TDIClub Forums

It has a USB port on one end and and obd2 socket on the other, the genuine cable has the software on the cable, my version comes with the software on a CD instead (knock off version) so apparently there is an issue with the cable then as it's not picked up and has to be put on a seperate port,

Honestly I'm not sure on all this, I just want it working lol but with the yellow warning on communication port It won't work.

Ok Davey I see now the specs say it is a desktop but your shots show it to be a nretbook. Now these are notoriously (in my mind) prone top all sorts of irritating problems.

Now one thing you can do is to update the chipset driver from here https://support.gateway.com/us/en/em...x?modelId=2262

Is this machine still under warranty if not I would at very least up th RAM to 2GB.
