Mouse Cursor just goes HUGE on me

Since I installed my new video card (MSI 5870) at random, during regular windows use, my cursor just goes BIG on me and I can't reverse it unless I reboot. Under mouse properties, nothing changes, it just....goes.....BIG?!?!

It's becoming annoying. What would cause such behavior?

It's a microsoft sidewinder with latest drivers.

Never did this in the past.

Google "Huge Cursor 5870". You are not alone. Most are saying it's a Catalyst issue.

One guy claims to have fixed it:

I fixed it by simply downloading the AMD GPU Clock Tool for the 5*** series, running it then closing it again. I never touched the Clock Tool again, yet I never had the mouse issue again either. Hope it helps..?

ok, I was able to get it running, I found a modified version on guru3d.com that works for win7 but here I am again with a fat mouse in front of me. What I did was, installed it, rebooted, ran it, closed it, waited, and fatty just popped up again

    Just passing thru

Did you check the ease of access control panel. Has a really big mouse cursor option.

    Good luck mate

ya there are no changes there, or themes, or anything. Everything stays on it's normal settings, but the cursor just gets fat!

Does anyone know if Catalyst 9.9 does this? Maybe I should roll back.

    just to update

been doing a lot of reading seems like many have this issue in conjunction with the streaming fullscreen HD video crashes. Occuring with 9.9, 9.10. and 9.11b thus far.

I am continuing all my 5870 talk in this thread in regards to these problems:

    Quick Fix

I found a quick fix for this problem with the huge mouse. Although it is a little bit annoying, its better than the fat mouse :)

Fix: Have the magnifier application running in the background at all times!

By having it minimized and on full screen 100% it doesnt affect anything, except that you get your nice small cursor back :) however i have noticed that when you get UAC prompts magnifier appears in the top, but not huge problem
