    Computer Won't Post After Reboot

    Hi

I am having a strange issue since i bought my new motherboard, ASROCK 970 Extreme 4.

Every time i reboot windows it turns off, then back on, and won't post. There is no beep, nothing comes on the screen and the monitor basically says no signal.

I have to turn it off, press the Clear CMOS button on the back and then it will work! This happens EVERY time i reboot windows.

Never seen anything like it, any ideas?

    Spec:

    MB: ASROCK 970 Extreme 4
CPU: AMD FX 6300 3.5GHZ 6 CORE (not overclocked)
    RAM: 8gb DDR3 1333mhz (not overclocked)
GRAPHICS: ASUS GeForce GTX 660 OC II 2GB GDDR5 (not overclocked)

I had none of this before i changed the motherboard!

Hello nibbr. Welcome to the Forum.

You say "reboot Windows". That could mean:

    1. You are in Windows and you click "Restart" from the Shutdown menu to restart Windows.
    2. You press the RESET button on your case to re-boot the PC (or shut down then power on)

It makes a difference in terms of what could be going on which it is.

You could also test to see what the symptom is in each case:

    • Cold Boot: from PC off, power supply switched off state
    • Warm Boot: from the BIOS Settings screen, Discard changes and Exit
    • Windows Restart

For the warm boot test you could also disconnect the hard drive with the OS on it and once it stops on the screen telling you there is no operating system to boot, hit the reset button.

Tell us what happens on each - Normal Boot / No Boot
