File transfer freezes when copying to Lacie USB Drive
I just recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium on this PC: AMD Athlon64 X2 5600+ @2.9Ghz 4GB DDR667 Asus M2N-X motherboard (nforce 520 chipset) Radeon 3450 PCI-E 512MB 250GB Segate HDD Primary internal 250GB LaCie HDD USB 2.0 external (System in AHCI mode) Whenever I attempt to copy files to the LaCie external, the transfer freezes at some point (usually early on), Both cores are maxed to nearly 100% and I get an assload of Event ID 51 errors and another error for ntfs (can't remember ID). If I open the resource monitor, I see the cpu hog is "system interrupts - deferred procedure calls and interrupt service routines". CPU racing will continue until you shut down. Most of the time, I have to hard shutdown. This same hardware performs flawlessly on Vista 64-bit SP2 so its not a hardware malfunction. All drivers are OS supplied as Nvida didn't release Win7 versions for my chipset. So is this problem a compatibility issue with LaCie or is it affecting other external USB drives as well? I had to rollback to Vista since I have no way to backup my data till this is resolved.
