Upgrading my CPU and Motherboard what about my Hard drives..

hey there I would like to know something, I am going to upgrade my CPU and MotherBoard and Ram :)

I would like to know if my Hard drive will work with the new Motherboard and CPU without having to reinstall anything... Is this possible or do I need to reinstall my windows and all my stuff?
I have a AMD CPU and Motherboard and I want to get a Intel CPU and motherboard.

    thanks
    regards,

I've heard of instances where a new motherboard worked OK with an old hard drive, but I'd seriously doubt you can get away with that when also switching from AMD CPU to Intel CPU. I'd plan on a clean install.

Your current installation would have AMD files and to get the Intel files, you need to reinstall. You can use the old hard drive as a storage drive.

ah so I could get a new HDD and use that as my windows one like a SSD? and use my old 1tb as storage and take of all the windows stuff? would I be able to do that? and how would I tell the computer to only use the SSd for my OS and my old one for games and apps?

You can put Windows on either a new SSD or a new or old HDD.

If you buy an SSD, you'd be foolish not to put Windows on it as any SSD is much faster than any HDD.

You'd presumably put all of your applications on the SSD as well, along with Windows.

You should disconnect all HDDs before you install Windows on the SSD. That will force Windows to be installed on the SSD only. The SSD will be C.

Reconnect the HDD after Windows is up and running on the SSD. The HDD will be some letter other than C and you can do what you want with it at that time.

You will have to install your games from the ssd, but you can put all the files on the hard drive. You simply change the letter from C: to D: or E: etc during the install.

I have a 1 TB drive just for games.
