Need help solving loud fan issue

So this problem started a few months ago when I tried playing a PC game on my computer. All of a sudden, one of the fans inside the PC starting going CRAZY. Like, REALLY loud. I turned off the game, and everything went back to normal. no noise. I tried it again when Elder Scrolls Online came out, and the fan is going insane again. I turn the game off and I get no noise.

I'm fairly certain it's my graphics card that is making the noise, but I also wanted to be safe and reapply thermal paste to my cpu fan just to make sure. Is there any way to quiet down the graphics card so I can play my games in peace and quiet? Or is this something I'm going to have to live with?

Don't be fairly certain. Be absolutely certain. Do that however you can, possibly by physically stopping various fans for one second by hand to see if the noise disappears. Get your head inside the case.

Have you checked CPU temps with a temp monitoring application? Unless CPU temps are excessive, I'd seriously doubt any re-application of thermal paste to the CPU will have any effect.

If the noise from your graphics card fan is in fact the cause of the noise, that fan may be failing outright and require replacement--particularly if that game didn't cause fan noise previously.
