USB Port issue some drives work some don't!! Code 10!!

I have an HP Pavilion Dm4t-1000 and all of a sudden my usb ports will recognize some drives but not all of them. I attached a 1GB usb stick, a 16GB stick, and 2 external drives, one in an enclosure from a win 7 machine, and one actual external drive. The usb keys show up and autoplay, the externals do not. The devices work perfectly on any other machine be it a PC or MAC. I have re-installed all chipset drivers and appropriate software to fix this issue to the best of my knowledge. I even went to delete the upper and lower filters but none existed.....weird huh? This is literally the only thing wrong with this system, what gives? Any help would be appreciated!!

Huludrock mate where did you download the drivers for the SUB ports and the external drives (should come with their own software) if it was the Windows feature I am not a great fan and prefer to get drivers from the manufacturers sites.

Yes well the chipset but I was looking for more specific stuff like as in my pic .
If you can run HW Info and open it up it will show what those specific ports are governed by.

Now just where did this copy of Windows come from Hulu? You mentioned Craigs list which I am guessing is a bit like one of those sell / swap sites ?Ebay and from experience buying software form those places is fraught with dodgy deals and shonky sellers.

Anyway find the makers of those drivers using HW Info and go to their sites.

MY version of windows is a legit OEM system builder copy as I have the licensing. The person I'm fixing this for had it loaded from a guy on craigslist. I don't believe Windows is the issue anymore.

After installing HW and the chipset drivers, the usb report reads exactly as yours does for the USB controllers. I installed all the correct drivers and in the exact order they should be, and these drives still don't operate correctly on this machine. What the heck?
