function of button with wireless symbol on DSL

A friend of mine ask me what is the function of a button on top of her adsl, as she doesn't have the manual and I couldn't find the ans so though I would ask around to see if anyone knew.

The button is NOT a reset or power button since it doesn't shut down when press on and it has the wireless symbol. Thats all she told me.

its a pairing button. used for syncing devices to the router that dont otherwise have a user interface.
    such as a wireless printer.

if setup some networks where new wireless devices of any type can only connect once the button has been pressed. kind of like an extra security feature. but thats not the case with all adsl modems/routers.

Regardless of what function it might be, if the wireless have been power off would the function be off the next time its powered on?

Or would the function be stuck until reset?

Btw so, its definitely a pairing button?

the botton has no function unless you push it. 99% of the time its not needed.

does your friend have a problem with her modem? does she need to press the bottom? is her life any better off for having this button? if its no to all of the above then dont worry!

p.s if you press the botton within about 30 seconds it stops trying to pair.

Don't think she needs it, she thought it was a power button but when she press nothing happens. She was asking around wondering what it was, so I thought I would help her find out.

WPS is an unsecure way of connecting to a WiFi device.
